General Description Through its partnership with the City of New York, CUNY’s Building Performance Laboratory is hiring qualified energy management professionals to serve as on-site consultants and fill critical staffing capacity needs at the Department of Citywide Administrative Services’ (“DCAS”) Division of Energy Management (“DEM”). DEM develops the City’s annual Heat, Light, and Power Budget, manages electricity, natural gas, and steam accounts, and implements energy efficiency projects across the City’s portfolio. DEM is tasked with leading the City’s efforts to reduce emissions from City government operations 40% by 2025, 50% by 2030, and 80% by 2050 from baseline. For this role, the person will support the evaluation of energy projects, scoping, audit review, and general assistance to the DEM Agency Planning and Implementation team. NYC residency may be required. Immigration sponsorship is not available. This is an on-site position based in 1 Centre St, New York, NY.

Other Duties

Support in energy efficiency project development, including but not limited to project scoping, reviewing codes, energy efficiency and feasibility studies, and project management of measurement and verification and energy proposals.

Perform technical calculations and analysis, including verification of energy savings in funding applications, development of assessment and project planning tools, portfolio and program level data analysis and visualization.

Supporting program operations, including budgets and schedule tracking, portfolio and project level data collection and management, data analysis and development of key performance indicators, and facilitating conversations with stakeholders.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.

At least two years of experience in HVAC equipment operations and specifying equipment upgrades to improve system energy performance.

Knowledge of and experience in using ASHRAE Procedures for Commercial Building Energy Audits.

Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) credential.

Familiarity with Local Law 97 (2019) – Climate Mobilization Act.

Familiarity with issues pertaining to energy efficiency in existing buildings, including electrification, green building design and resiliency.

Familiarity with energy cost, savings and greenhouse gas calculation methodology, and data analysis and visualization.

Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft applications (Advanced Excel skills is required).

Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple responsibilities and deadlines simultaneously.

Strong analytical abilities.

Salary $80,000 - $87,000
