Roux is seeking a responsible, self-sufficient, energetic Onsite Environmental Monitor to perform field tasks associated with our project sites, including construction oversight, the operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and sampling of environmental media. Candidates should be prepared to work on projects related to the investigation and environmental remediation/construction of industrial and commercial sites. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required.
Position Requirements
Preferred 1 year of construction oversight experience. A positive, team-oriented attitude Strong mechanical skills Understanding of environmental and health & safety regulations and performing work in a compliant manner with the regulations and facility safety requirements Willingness to support the project team to service clients and complete projects on time and on budget Ability to perform physical labor, including the ability to physically move around outdoors in various terrains, occasionally lift and carry objects and equipment, and climb ladders to access areas Use of a personal vehicle and valid driver’s license to travel between worksites (note: a Company vehicle may be available for use) Field work year-round, most of which is outdoors Preferred Requirements
Experience with construction oversight and inspections Experience with remediation systems preferred Familiarity with environmental equipment and sampling techniques is preferred Valid Site Safety Training (SST) card is preferred Valid OSHA 40 HAZWOPER Certification and 8-Hour Refresher course certification Note: Roux will provide training for new employees who do not already possess these OSHA certifications. Essential Duties
Oversight of construction activities with an emphasis on environmental compliance, air monitoring, and health and safety. Assistance with site remediation system operations and maintenance activities. Inspection of system equipment to evaluate remedial system performance and identify potential malfunctions. Maintenance of system components to ensure or restore proper operation and compliance. Collecting soil and soil gas samples Collection of samples from monitoring wells and recovery wells. Collecting, recording, and evaluating system performance data. Oversight and supervision of subcontractors involved in environmental remediation and system maintenance and repairs. This position works predominantly in the field working independently or as part of a larger team at exterior project sites (i.e., construction projects, industrial/brownfield facilities, monitoring wells, treatment systems) to perform oversight of subcontractors (e.g., drillers, heavy equipment operators, truckers), air monitoring and reporting, sample collection, and recording of operational/meter parameters. These field activities require the ability to drive to different project sites and physically move around outdoors in various terrains, in adverse weather conditions and occasionally for extended or irregular hours.
