The RN practices professional nursing within the framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The professional role of the RN is exemplified by leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes. The RN provides care that establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family, respects the patient\'s values and preferences, and uses holistic data collection to formulate outcomes and evaluate care." Responsibilities

STANDARDS OF PRACTICE: The RN practice is guided by the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice (2015). This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, health teaching and health promotion, and evaluation. STANDARDS OF PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE: The RN engages in professional activities across ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN is accountable to themselves, patients, peers and society. Qualifications

Education : Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. All newly hired RNs must have current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire. Experience : Registered Nurse is the foundational job description for all RNs. All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program. Licensure : Licensed and currently registered as a nurse in the State of Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged. Special Skills : Registered Nurse foundational role; SPIRE clinical advancement program encouraged. Physical Demands : Requires prolonged standing and walking; exposure to infectious diseases; ability to assist with patient handling and lifting (up to 300 pounds with assistance).
