Administers radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment, under direction of a physician Detects and maps radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies, using a camera to produce photographic or computer images Produces a computer-generated or film image for interpretation by a physician Calculates, measures, and records radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed, using computer and following physician's prescription Performs quality control checks on laboratory equipment or cameras Maintains and calibrates radioisotope and laboratory equipment Disposes of radioactive materials and stores radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures Processes cardiac function studies, using computer Records and processes results of procedures Assesses quality of images and ensures imaging outcome assessment meets departmental standard Explains all aspects of procedure to patients and keeps patients and families informed of waiting times or progress of procedure as necessary Improves service and image quality by utilizing feedback from staff, patients, and supervisor Prepares stock radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients Secures returns, maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas and imaging rooms Demonstrates awareness of confidentiality rules and regulations and acts accordingly Provides care appropriate to the age, spiritual, and cultural needs of the patient served Other duties as assigned Qualifications

Required Education: Satisfactory completion of a formal education program accredited by ARRT or a mechanism acceptable to ARRT Preferred Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in Nuclear Medicine Required Certifications and Licenses: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certificate of Nuclear Medicine Technology, or registered by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). CPR certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross Job Details
