Overview
Occupational Health Nurse – Tampa, FL Location: Tampa, FL 33637 Duration: 6 Months Brief Job Description: Occupational health nurse supporting the Tampa manufacturing site and associated locations. The nurse will provide triage for work-related injuries, direct and coordinate care with local occupational health clinic, assist with site health and wellness program, monitor and communicate STD, FMLA, and work-related absences and medical restrictions. Perform medical surveillances for vision, respiratory, audiograms and others as needed. Responsibilities
Administer first aid and CPR in the event of medical emergencies. Supervise plant first aid coverage and training. Provide initial assessment of on-the-job injuries or non-occupational illnesses and refer for further evaluation as necessary. Coordinate administrative and medical case management for workers compensation/injury management or non-occupational disability programs inclusive of first report of injury, coordination of medical care, case follow up, liaison with internal staff/external health care providers and insurance administrators. Manage transitional return to work activities, identify alternative modified work options and monitor to optimize full duty status. May need to complete job analysis within the scope of nursing assessments. Coordinate and monitor medical surveillance programs, e.g. audiograms, eye exams, etc. as required by company standards. Partner with Environment, Health + Safety on injury/illness prevention, training and communication programs (e.g., blood borne pathogen, CPR/first aid). Coordinate health promotion/wellness programs. Conduct pre-placement questionnaires and review fitness for duty evaluations. Collaborate with management on health and safety goals and participate in meetings on issues such as accident investigation, risk management, ergonomics, and health promotion. Qualifications
Current state registered nurse license to practice in the state of employment. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred. 3-5 years of experience in occupational health nursing, preferably in an occupational health manufacturing setting. Experience in community health, ambulatory care, critical care or emergency nursing preferred. Ability to work with a team and/or independently. Certifications in occupational health nursing, case management and basic life support preferred. Ability to make independent nursing judgments, perform basic physical assessments, problem solve, and have strong time management skills. Strong computer, verbal and written communication skills; good time management and organizational skills. Applicant Notices
