Lead Mechanic Supervisor – Corrosion Control to support our 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) operations at Colonna\'s Shipyard in Norfolk, VA. Position Summary: The role involves supporting management with training and assignment of semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their ability, experience, and job knowledge in support of production goals in ship repair and industrial fabrication operations. The position is onsite in Norfolk, VA and may require hours beyond a standard work week with flexible schedule availability to support production/operations. Occasional travel may be required. Responsibilities

Execute routine and non-routine production duties in support of operational goals in compliance with Company procedures and policies. Perform skilled tasking (relative to the assigned trade) in maintenance, repair, installation/removal, and construction activities supporting ship repair and industrial fabrication operations. Support management to facilitate daily production activities and ensure team members have tools, equipment, and procedures needed to work safely and efficiently. Assist management with timekeeping validation, training, performance management, coaching/counselling, and supervision for employees on their work crews. Break broader production requirements into practical action plans to support safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals with ongoing monitoring of job sites. Make recommendations to support Plan of the Day (POD) for assigned projects and use allocated resources to achieve project requirements efficiently. Evaluate job sites and work environments prior to work to ensure safe setups and efficient work evolutions. Understand and comply with all technical aspects of the job, including contract requirements, drawings, procedures, and work instructions. Manage, supervise, and direct the day-to-day efforts of Corrosion Control employees. Percent of time on shipboard or in the shop supervising staff (approximately 75–80%). Additional Responsibilities

Review project specifications/SOWs and assist in creating requisitions for materials in accordance with contract requirements. Generate and submit production reports (condition and surveillance reports, operational briefs, quality checks) meeting technical and customer reporting requirements. Ensure tools/resources are mobilized/demobilized appropriately; provide updates on damaged or lost equipment. Initiate QA/Customer calls and participate in TIP inspections. May serve as backup/makeup to supervisor as needed. Provide input to management and project teams to support schedule, progress, and ETC/EAC updates for projects. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or Registered Apprentice ( graduate) or high school diploma with at least 6 years related trade experience in the supervised trade. Ability to understand job specifications, drawings, and technical references. Ability to work effectively with others; reliable and flexible. Preferred Qualifications

Some supervisory/mentoring experience (e.g., makeup supervisor). NBPI Certification (NAVSEA basic paint inspector) preferred. C-7 (Abrasive Blaster) Certification preferred. C-12 (Airless Spray Applicator) Certification preferred. C-13 (Ultra-High-Pressure water-jetting) Certification preferred. C-14 (Plural Component Pump operator/Sprayer) Certification preferred. Security Requirements

Must be able to access government facilities and be DBIDS eligible. Position requires US Citizenship. Travel Requirements

Minimal Travel; 10% or less. Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes (no less than 20 lbs). Must be physically agile to perform tasks in naval ships; ability to climb ladders, work in extreme temperatures, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces (including manholes). May ride ships at sea for extended periods. Ability to work with high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions; work aloft or over vessel sides; frequent exposure to noise; operate trucks, forklifts, and man-lifts. Work may involve standing, walking, sitting, using hands, talking, hearing; may require reaching, climbing, bending, kneeling, and crawling. Work in extreme temperatures and areas with limited ventilation; frequent use of respirators; protective clothing/equipment required for welding, cutting, or working with molten metal.
