Responsibilities

The Production Manager is responsible for all production operations at a plant including manufacturing, shipping, scheduling, and maintenance.

Lead a production team in the efficient and safe production of corrugated products.

As a member of the plant management team, evaluate opportunities to improve overall plant performance and profitability.

Set the strategic direction and momentum for the manufacturing function in the plant.

Oversee, plan, and implement strategy to optimize the effective utilization of workforce, materials & machinery.

Schedule work, coordinate production activities, provide direct oversight of employees, approve time records, and communicate and implement company policy.

Engage in employee development activities and make recommendations on hires, promotions, and disciplinary actions.

Ensure an even flow of work through all manufacturing functions to meet production goals and minimize unscheduled downtime.

Maintain a clean, safe and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are understood and executed by all employees.

Oversee hiring, training, promotions, and performance evaluation of employees.

Analyze production performance, identify opportunities, and make recommendations for process and equipment improvement; establish and execute goals.

Ensure predictive and preventive maintenance programs are accomplished and repairs are completed on a timely basis so that production and profitability objectives are met.

Evaluate and recommend capital projects to ensure plant profitability.

Oversee the implementation of health, safety, environmental, quality, and continual improvement standards as set by the corporation and applicable regulations.

Assist upper management in developing business plans and evaluating capital projects to keep the plant profitable and competitive.

Qualifications

Education equivalent to a bachelor's degree in engineering or business required.

Ten (10) years' of previous experience in corrugated manufacturing industry.

Seven (7) years' previous experience in a supervisory capacity at a corrugated manufacturing facility.

Established knowledge of corrugated and packaging manufacturing machinery, concepts, practices, and procedures including continual improvement processes and safety practices.

Experience in coaching, training, teambuilding, performance development, and conflict resolution.

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and communicate with production team and management.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with individuals throughout the company on procedures, policies, practices, and information requests.

Strong listening, evaluating, and problem-solving skills; ability to create alternative solutions and meet deadlines.

Working knowledge of computer systems including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and manufacturing systems including shop floor software.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage numerous details, deadlines, and requests.

Solid analytical and mathematical skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects concurrently.
