Summary
The Oncology Clinical Educator role provides disease state, REMS, and product safety education and training to key healthcare providers within Oncology clinics and health care providers (HCPs) in hospital and clinic/office settings. The individual will work within a specified region to enhance disease, REMS, and product safety knowledge, coordinate and provide staff training, and enhance proper administration. The Oncology Clinical Educator (OCE) is field-based and composed of nurses working under the general direction of the Regional Director of Clinical Nurse Managers. The OCE educates HCPs/clinics with infusion and related education for prescribed DSI products and serves as the disease state and product safety expert for their assigned territories. The OCE identifies educational needs of staff and implements programs to fulfill knowledge gaps, collaborating with clinical leaders to provide education and enhanced clinical care. All educational efforts align with the product label and interactions with non-commercial counterparts. Strong organizational, creative, analytical problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills are required; the role requires flexibility and adaptability to evolving situations. Responsibilities
Provides education to health care professionals about disease states, REMS, and product safety information for specified DSI products within an assigned geographic area, focusing on defined segments (e.g., Hematology/Oncology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Hospital Pharmacy, OB/GYN, Cardiology). Develops strong, long-term relationships with clinical personnel. Ensures appropriate and compliant use of disease state and product safety education related to DSI products. Delivers disease state educational presentations and on-label product safety presentations for in-office and in-hospital educational programs to address clinical knowledge or product gaps. Educates using multiple approaches to explain complex material and stimulates customer interest while adapting to customer needs. Collaborates to identify and strategize how to best educate customers. Develops and executes geographically based strategic and tactical plans to meet targeted customer needs. Monitors and communicates customer insights regarding information needs related to disease state, REMS, and safety for DSI marketed products to the Director, Clinical Nurse Manager. Collaborates with managed care counterparts or MSLs to provide clinical updates impacted by reimbursement and/or clinical guidelines. Identifies and contributes to the development of nursing/HCP materials to fulfill customer needs, including patient educational aids, product reference aids, and slide deck content topics. Qualifications
Education Qualifications (from an Accredited College or University) Bachelor's Degree or RN. If RN, active RN License required; license in the assigned state(s) preferred. Experience Qualifications 4 or more years in the pharmaceutical industry preferred, ideally in Hematology/Oncology, Nephrology, or Gastroenterology; relevant experience required. Experience with anemia management strongly preferred and infusion nursing experience preferred. Ability to travel up to 90% within geography and to required meetings. Must have a valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company requirements. Licenses and Certifications RN – Registered Nurse with state licensure and/or compact licensure; prior clinical and pharmaceutical industry experience interacting with multiple levels of health care providers is required.
