The Senior Systems Engineer - Lead Systems Verifications role leads a team through all aspects of the Verification and Validation portion of the systems engineering lifecycle for Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems. Responsibilities include developing verification strategies and plans, leading test procedures, providing technical support, coordinating with sub-system verification teams, and collaborating with customers during process and development assurance audits. You will advise on test equipment integration, address technical challenges, and track KPIs to monitor progress and quality across verification activities. Location: Greater Grand Rapids, MI area. Relocation package available. Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days on-site in Grand Rapids; Tue, Wed, Thu). Optional remote days: Mon and Fri as work supports.
Responsibilities
Develop overall verification strategies and plans to ensure system compliance and performance.
Lead a team to develop, review, and execute verification test procedures.
Provide technical support on issues related to Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA).
Coordinate with sub-system verification teams to ensure effective use of verification artifacts at the system level.
Collaborate with and advise customers during process and development assurance audits.
Develop and track KPIs related to verification activities to monitor progress and quality.
Direct and influence the Systems Engineering Lifecycle for IMA products/technologies.
Contribute to development of project verification plans in accordance with GE Aerospace processes, customer expectations, and certification requirements.
Develop architecture and trade studies to meet customer requirements.
Cross-train and mentor other Systems Engineers in the discipline.
Drive engineering reuse within the IMA product line and provide technical leadership to project teams.
Support the initiation of new projects to align with product roadmap and engineering processes.
Lead interdisciplinary collaboration across software, hardware, testing, safety, maintainability, reliability, and certification teams.
Escalate issues requiring additional leadership in a timely manner.
Apply judgment and experience to solve complex problems in operations, product management, manufacturing, or engineering as needed.
Mentor colleagues and promote continuous improvement and a fail-fast, resilient mindset.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field. Master’s preferred.
10+ years of experience in integration, validation, and verification within an engineering product development environment.
Ability to travel up to 10%.
Desired Characteristics
Knowledge of Boeing 777X/787 avionics and related systems.
Experience in Avionics DAL A environments and DO-297, ARP 4754A, DO-178C, DO-254 and/or DO-330 process assurance.
Experience with requirements life cycle (definition, allocation, validation, verification), embedded software, electronic systems, and certification (FAA/EASA/NAA), plus system safety.
Strong communication with senior leadership and ability to translate technical information for business leaders or customers.
Proven ability to lead teams in development, integration, validation, and verification of systems with broad cross-discipline understanding.
Mentorship ability and willingness to guide others in key technical areas.
