Job Description The CNC Programmer / CNC Operator performs repetitive tasks by building and developing the same pieces or parts with the same machinery. They may drill, bolt, or hone metal to complete the design in the blueprint they are following. They work on parts or metal machinery using a Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) system, utilizing several machines and tools to plan the design. They are responsible for verifying precise measurements prior to production and maintaining machinery to ensure optimal workflow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Read and understand blueprint designs
Possess broad knowledge of SolidWorks and Surfcam programming software
Knowledge of Coreldraw and KCam7 (laser software) is beneficial
Set up machinery for production
Rework metal to create the blueprint design
Measure and verify all calculations prior to machinery setup
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Perform routine maintenance on machinery
Understand and apply “M” and “G” codes for CNC toolpaths
Education and/or Experience
3-5 years of CNC machine operator experience
Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of related experience, or an associate degree with 5 years of experience
High computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints
Problem-solving skills for mechanical and logistical issues
Ability to work independently and follow directions
Positive and professional attitude
Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
Salary & Benefits Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per year (dependent on experience)
