Manufacturing Engineer
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Development
Develop and implement manufacturing processes for products.
Work closely with product engineering on tooling to ensure efficient manufacturability.
Assist with cost analysis of manufacturing processes.
Establish standardized operating procedures (SOPs) for new products.
Create and modify visual work instructions.
Communicate clearly with stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of new products or changes in manufacturing processes.
Process Improvement and Optimization
Analyze and optimize production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
Implement lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methodologies to streamline operations.
Quality Assurance
Evaluate product quality throughout the manufacturing process and take corrective actions when necessary.
Assist in root cause analysis for product defects and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Assist with tooling or equipment repairs. May coordinate outside services with contractors or vendors.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain technical documentation such as work instructions, manufacturing control plans, and SOPs.
Track and report on project status and other key performance metrics.
Other Duties
Perform all job duties following a lean mindset and according to all safety policies.
Special projects as assigned.
Required Experience and Education
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, molding/casting, CNC, waterjet, welding, etc.).
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with hand and power tools.
Experience with ERP software.
Experience with CAM software preferred.
Experience with 3D CAD software preferred.
Experience with various measurement tools and standard QC inspection protocols.
Experience with quality systems in accordance with ISO 9001.
Experience applying statistical techniques in process development, such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and PFMEAs.
Knowledge of 6S methodologies is preferred.
