Overview
Construction Program Manager (Traveling USA) oversees the strategic planning, management, and execution of industrial construction projects of food and beverage production facilities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality standards. This role involves directing, supervising, and mentoring onsite construction managers and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships. Client Relations Responsibilities
Manage and foster relationships with clients by understanding their needs, listening actively, and addressing feedback honestly and transparently. Review project schedule, work progress, and budget with the client. Communicate project progress, issues, and updates to the client proactively. Set and manage project timelines, deliverables, and expectations with the client. Adapt to changing client needs and expectations while maintaining a professional approach. Build trust and rapport with clients by delivering on expectations and driving value. Develop professional relationships where clients rely on the guidance and experience of the Construction Program Manager. Supervising Responsibilities of Construction Projects
Oversee and direct site-based construction managers, field administrators, and office-based technical staff from conception to completion, including reviewing and monitoring work, mentoring, evaluating performance, and guiding to meet deadlines. Collaborate with the office project manager on developing and updating project scope, budget, and schedule. Provide field input to the office project manager regarding project accounting, budgeting, and cost management. Develop relationships with inspectors to ensure adherence to permit requirements. Change order and general construction administration. Manage third-party testing, inspection, and relationships. Conduct jobsite walks/audits to ensure progress and drive efficiency. Support and coordinate facility startup. Develop construction reports for client executives. Collaborate with project controllers and office project managers on supplier invoices and client billing. Promote continuous and productive communication among project participants, including internal and external clients and partners. Other tasks as assigned. Required Education, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in construction science, building science, construction engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred. 15+ years of progressively responsible on-site experience on industrial building projects (preferably in the Food & Beverage Industry). 15+ years of experience working with subcontractors, including motivation and issue resolution. Demonstrated ability to drive project schedules. 15+ years of building or sustaining client relationships. Strong technical, organizational, managerial, and communication skills across multiple disciplines, with proficiency in reading drawings and using 3D models. 7+ years of design-build experience (preferred). Professional and polished communication. Fundamental understanding of all phases of construction and ability to read and interpret construction documents and schedules, specifically with MS Project. Travel requirement – Up to 100% travel to projects throughout the USA and possibly Canada. Work schedule requirement – Work 10 days onsite, 4 days off. Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and standing/walking on project sites with uneven surfaces. Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of the jobsite in all weather conditions, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching. Exposure to typical construction site hazards. On-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite. Lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Travel Requirement
Projects are located throughout the United States and Canada; this is a site-based, large project role with a 10 days on / 4 days off schedule. Projects typically last 12+ months. Meal and lodging per diems are provided along with reasonable travel provisions. Up to 100% overnight travel may be required based on project needs. About Us
