The Electrical Designer is responsible for designing instrument and controls, electrical line wiring drawings, and cabinet layouts for all products including new rental fleet, surplus assets, and investment recovery. Assists with QA checks and minor programming updates. Responsibilities
Participates in reviews of customer specifications to ensure project specifications are compatible with company capabilities. Completes CAD drawings and documentation for electrical design of panel layouts, line wiring, hardware selection, and cabinet design, including wiring sizing, conduit selection, and hardware needs. Performs quality assurance review of electrical systems, instrument selection and operation, calibration, and wiring. Participates in wet cycle testing of equipment and completes mechanical and electrical R2R QA documentation, shop as-builts, corrections, and final document sign-off. Assists Project Management in negotiations with customers to approve product designs and changes. Explains designs, layouts, and engineered components to inside and outside customers. Confer with functional areas and production staff to discuss project specifications and procedures to fulfill customer requirements. Assists sales in responding to customer questions regarding electrical controls and instrumentation to fit process needs. Supports contractor work within mechanical aspects of equipment designs and fabrication. Performs administrative functions such as writing reports, O&M manuals, creating purchase requisitions, and assisting with the purchase of materials or services. Performs or assists with equipment startups and installations at client sites, including travel, mechanical and electrical checkout, training, and final sign-off of equipment and systems by the client. Field service reports may be required. Participates in wet cycle testing of equipment and helps complete electrical R2R QA documentation, shop as-builts, and corrections for final electrical documentation. Assists and works with PLC programming and HMI screens under the direction of the electrical engineer as needed. About You
High School Diploma (2-year technical degree preferred). Minimum 5 years of Engineering and Technology experience with practical application of engineering science and technology; knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, electrical power design and their applications. Experience using CAD software; experience with electrical drafting software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or PCSCHEMATIC is a plus. Design: Familiarity with techniques, formulas, tools, and principles involved in producing precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Computers and Electronics: Familiarity with control panels, starter panels, terminal strips, PLC and I/O cards, solenoid valving, electronic equipment and instruments. Production and Processing: Familiarity with raw materials, production processes, quality control in manufacturing, and proficiency with manual and CNC machine tools. Ability to read electrical drawings, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), and use basic electrician tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Physical Requirements
Work in a manufacturing or shop environment with exposure to noise, machine oils, and varying temperatures. Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching during the shift. Use of PPE (gloves, eye protection, steel-toed boots) required. Occasional field work for installation. May need to move equipment or parts over 50 lbs with assistance from lifting devices. Travel
May travel to fieldwork sites to inspect, repair, or test equipment; ~10–25% of the time. Expected Compensation
