Overview
Electrical Engineer - SCADA and Analytical Services 5+ Years role at POWER Engineers. Location: Freeport, Maine office, with hybrid work option. Responsibilities
Perform electrical studies and/or develop and troubleshoot SCADA systems for utility and industrial/commercial clients. Cover power systems including conventional and renewable generation, substations, transmission, and distribution systems. Engage in Protective Relaying tasks (short circuit analysis, protection criteria, relay settings, NERC compliance, arc flash analysis) with applicable software such as AcSELerator Quickset, AcSELerator Architect, GE Enervista, ASPEN Oneliner, SKM-PTW, ETAP, RSCAD/RTDS. Conduct Power System Planning Studies (load flow, P-V/Q-V analysis, contingencies, dynamic stability, Python scripting). Perform Design Studies (grounding, insulation coordination, transient simulation, power quality, motor starting, AC interference) using CDEGS, ATP-EMTP, PSCAD. Design and configure Networking and Communications for RTUs, relays, meters, HMIs, PLCs; develop specifications for fiber, microwave, power line carrier, or radio paths; travel to project sites to commission systems. Develop Logic and Control Schemes for remote/local operation of power system equipment; implement programs on various platforms; travel to project sites to test and commission control schemes (SEL RTAC, Orion, Cooper SMP, GE-D20). Data Acquisition: prepare data transfer points, address routing, develop HMI screens; travel to project sites to test and commission data transfer schemes (Wonderware, Clearview, AcSELerator RTAC, Visual Basic, OSIPI, Python). Required Education/Experience
BSEE, BSEET, or BSCE from an ABET-accredited university. At least five (5) years of industry experience in design or device configuration in the described technical disciplines. Willingness to travel occasionally. Strong troubleshooting skills. Desired Education/Experience
Power system courses (three-phase power, load flow, protective relaying, etc.). Internships/experience in listed software and areas. Engineer In Training (EIT) certification with goal toward PE registration. Experience mentoring others and providing technical leadership on customer-focused projects.
