Overview
Children's Social Services Practitioner III (Finance) This recruitment will establish a candidate pool of qualified competitive applicants and will be used to fill future vacancies as they become available with the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS). Applications to this posting will be valid for up to 180 days. All applicants for Harmony Haven Children\'s and Youth Center positions must meet the age requirement of at least 21 years of age as required by the Transitional Shelter Care Facility Operating Standards by the California Department of Social Services. positions throughout Riverside County (Western, Southern, Mid-County, and Desert Regions including Blythe, CA) for the Children\'s Services Division (CSD). Frequent driving may be required. Competitive candidates will be referred to the department on an ongoing basis. Responsibilities
Conduct thorough investigations into referrals of child abuse and neglect, ensuring timely and accurate assessment and emergency level response appropriate to the situation. Provide client services by offering support and services to children and youth where their welfare is at risk; address issues related to neglect, abuse, emotional/behavioral problems, disabilities, and health concerns. Assess the family environment; evaluate child safety and welfare; determine risks to children; implement interventions; transport as needed in accordance with safety regulations. Ensure child safety by taking immediate action to remove children from unsafe environments and transporting them to appropriate placements. Locate runaway dependent children and ensure their safety with appropriate care providers. Develop assessment for abuse/neglect; create case plans for children and families; conduct regular field visits outside the office and at long distances. Provide comprehensive casework services including counseling, protective services, and adoptive services. Perform field visits and service delivery to monitor and execute case plans. Support resource families; conduct home studies and outreach for resource parents and adoption services. Prepare and maintain case records; document case activities; write reports for court proceedings and respond to official correspondence; maintain accurate records in electronic systems. Maintain safety compliance and adhere to safety protocols. Maintain electronic records; ensure documentation in required case management systems. Interpret social service policies and ensure compliance with internal guidelines. Aim to achieve client outcomes in safety, permanency, and well-being. Participate in staff development and mandated training, including in-person and virtual sessions. Qualifications
Option I Education: Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field. Experience: One year equivalent to a County of Riverside Children\'s Social Services Practitioner II. Option II Education: Bachelor\'s degree in a related field. Experience: Two years of performing casework duties in a public or private human services agency, including assessing/meeting client needs and developing/implementing case plans. Option III Education: Master\'s degree in a related field. Option IV Education: Bachelor\'s degree in social work; internship completed as part of a Bachelor of Social Work program. All Options Knowledge of: Principles and techniques of social casework; understanding of laws, regulations, and policies; basic computer skills.
Ability to:
Establish rapport; apply casework skills; plan and analyze; maintain professional relationships; utilize resources; provide consultation; manage data in computerized systems. Additional Requirements License: Valid California Driver\'s License required at hire and maintained thereafter. Some travel may be required; vehicle use and insurance details apply. Schedule: On-call may be required, including nights, holidays, and weekends. Physical Requirements: Office and field work; ability to perform field visits, transport, and manage potentially hazardous environments. Background Requirement: Pre-employment physical, drug/alcohol test, background checks including CACI and CLETS, and fingerprinting. Felony or misdemeanor convictions may disqualify applicants.
