This Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager will partner with the site operations team to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and Kaizen events, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce ergonomic and other safety risks to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our associates. Responsibilities
Act as SME of local/regional regulations and company WHS policy. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with applicable Amazon Safety Policies. Measure site performance against published safety requirements; identify and implement corrective actions for deficiencies. Ensure safety record keeping and data integrity; provide Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support safety initiatives. Deliver on-time and quality projects to Operations. Deep dive safety metrics and review incident trends to justify resource allocation to high-risk areas. Propose action plans to Senior Leadership based on site trends. Audit record keeping and Global Safety Database entries to ensure compliance with global standards and local regulations. Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring are accurate and consistent. Manage and mentor Safety Managers and Safety Associates at the designated site. Engage Injury Prevention Specialists (IPS) and Site Leadership to drive long-term incident reduction actions. Perform targeted Kaizen events with Operations teams based on identified risks (force, repetition, awkward postures). Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and aware of their responsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of safety training. Review deployed safety tools for effectiveness and drive continual improvement. Partner with corporate and regional safety personnel to align with global best practices and NA standards. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management CPR/First Aid Certification Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred Certified Safety Professional preferred Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization Interest in long-term career development through assignments across multiple facilities Prior experience in a management development training program Track record of managing a safety operation with both salaried and hourly staff Experience developing others into higher levels of responsibility Strong written and verbal communication skills, including interfacing with Directors and VPs Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected status.
