Overview
Registration Associate (PRN) role at Children\'s Healthcare of Atlanta. The patient access team supports patient intake, registration, and related activities to ensure quality patient care and accurate billing. Job Responsibilities
Communicates with patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, and insurance companies to obtain information and verify insurance to ensure quality patient care and payment of hospital accounts. Interviews patients and families to obtain complete and accurate demographic and financial information and ensures all questionnaires and forms are completed as required by government or regulatory agencies. Enters data into systems for registration, billing, patient tracking, charge capture, and reconciliation to minimize patient wait times. Verifies insurance coverage and/or validates authorizations as applicable. Explains regulatory financial requirements to the patient or responsible party and collects/posts deposits or deductible amounts as needed. Supports Patient Accounting by capturing accurate data to produce clean claims and prevent denials; acts as liaison between patient and department staff, answering questions and relaying messages; escalates immediate needs to appropriate leaders or clinical team members. Updates schedulers and patient information tools to ensure wait time communication. Performs daily medical record maintenance, including creation of patient charts, filing encounter paperwork, and coordinating with providers as necessary while maintaining patient confidentiality. Provides release of medical information as required. Supports daily operations and front office activities, including opening/closing procedures, restocking supplies, and handling mail and messages. Schedules patient appointments and coordinates referrals, resolving discrepancies with physician offices as needed. Coordinates all aspects of scheduling for procedures and provider visits and utilizes available resources effectively. Attends department meetings, may participate in quality and service improvement initiatives, and supports team workflow and development. Prescreens doctor\'s orders for new patients to ensure completeness and appropriateness of scheduled appointments. May assist with case review materials for court preparation in clinic settings as needed. Coordinates subpoena processes between court systems, child protection centers, and legal departments and facilitates billing for expert testimony when applicable. Note:

High school diploma or equivalent Experience and Qualifications
1 year of experience in healthcare or related clerical, accounting, or customer service experience. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education may be considered in lieu of experience. Preferred: College degree; 1 year of experience in registration; CPAR or CHAA certification; experience using patient registration systems, insurance verification systems, and Medicaid portals.
