You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.# **A Day in the Life**Join Medtronic’s Global Sourcing team as the Sr. Category Manager for Contract Manufacturing – In this role, you will manage medium- to large-scale High-Level Assembly devices, which may operate independently or in conjunction with single-use disposable devices.

You will develop and execute category strategies that drive business impact. Key areas of focus include:

• Leading category strategy and execution

• Driving cost reduction initiatives

• Ensuring on-time delivery and quality performance

• Managing and improving supplier relationships

• Overseeing supplier performance and consolidation/rationalization

To achieve success in this position, you will require strong skills in contract management and negotiations, product application knowledge, technical aptitude, cost management, operations, and manufacturing knowledge, global trade and logistics, supplier relationship management, NPI/NDP knowledge, and experience and strong relationship building. As a successful Sr. Category Manager, you will have to understand the industry, the market, and the category environment, identify and develop, and execute category strategies that can leverage suppliers’ capabilities and Medtronic’s purchasing power at a global scale to attain world-class product costs and the most competitive total cost of ownership.

We’re working a minimum of 4 days a week, onsite as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.As the Sr. Category Manager for Contract Manufacturing- medium to large-scale High-Level Assembly devices, you will engage with Operating Units leadership to ensure delivery of effective category management strategies and standards that deliver to Medtronic’s overall operations and business results. You will support and own key initiatives relevant to global finished goods strategies. Through strategic leadership, you will facilitate or support Operation Networks discussions that will optimize the commodity in terms of quality, service, technology, market intelligence, risk, and total cost of ownership.You will work to leverage Operations Network strategies at an enterprise level and continuously develop and improve leveraging opportunities by consolidating spend with key business partners supporting the broader interests of Medtronic. In addition, you will leverage strategic sourcing processes across Medtronic by maximizing the company’s combined purchase power to reduce the overall cost of ownership and acquisition through strategic negotiations and optimize supplier relationship management opportunities through partnerships within their primary categories of oversight. You will collaborate with the GTS Group and the Medtronic Operating Units to ensure category strategy alignment when executing and completing NPI/NPD projects.As the Sr. Category Manager-Contract Manufacturing, you will:* Lead an estimated ~ $300M annual spend on medium to large-scale High-Level Assembly devices, create and develop, and gain business alignment for Category Strategies* Execute category strategies and continuous category strategy adjustments and reviews with internal and external stakeholders. Conduct global market intelligence for the Specialty Materials category and provide insights to support network optimization opportunities.* Advocate on behalf of the supply management function with business units and operational partners to ensure support for core business objectives.* Negotiate contracts that provide year-over-year performance benefits.* Identify and develop business cases for a healthy year-over-year cost reduction pipeline with suppliers through lean, should costing, process improvement, tier 2 strategies, and yield improvements* Perform market analysis in identifying the best cost country sourcing of the category, provide guidance to technical sourcing and engineering with supplier innovations, and proactively develop forward buy agreements where appropriate* Manage contract manufacturers' relationships and drive year-over-year performance improvements with quality, delivery, and costs. Lead regular business reviews with contract manufacturers.* Rationalize existing supplier base through stratification, market analysis, supplier development, and contract manufacturer consolidation* Lead new and ongoing supplier audit activities to ensure the supply base has robust process controls and capabilities to meet existing and future Medtronic business requirements. Develop market & category risk reduction strategies in partnership with the operating unit.* Obtain and communicate the market conditions and technology trend information regarding commodities and suppliers. Implement appropriate business opportunities that drive value to the enterprise.Must-Have: Minimum Requirements* Bachelor’s degree required* Minimum of 7 years of relevant category management experience or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant category management experience in a large, multi-divisional corporation.Nice to Have* Minimum of 7 years of sourcing in Contract Manufacturing with strong negotiation experience with industry-leading Global contract manufacturing partners.* Strong history of continuous learning about the market, category, and economic/technological developments* Strong experience engaging with contract manufacturing sites and operations* Knowledge of contract manufacturing, outsourcing, and the electronics market & industry* Experience in cross-functional commodity teams.* Master’s Degree and/or Business/Engineering Degree* CPIM, CPSM Certification* Knowledge of e-commerce initiatives* Knowledge of FDA-regulated industries, preferably the medical device industry.* Intermediate level of economics knowledge and expertise* Experience in forming and maintaining strategic alliances.**Physical Job Requirements**The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
