Overview
Oracle is hiring a Sr Principal Energy Risk & Procurement Manager for its Cloud Data Center Sourcing team in Frankfort, KY. The role focuses on managing gas procurement strategies, optimizing supply chains, and supporting sustainability goals. Candidates should have extensive experience in gas procurement and a passion for energy innovation. Responsibilities include overseeing gas sourcing, managing supplier relationships, and evaluating low-carbon solutions to reduce carbon footprint. Oracle Cloud Data Center Sourcing is seeking an US-based Energy Risk & Procurement (Natural Gas) Senior Manager, reporting to the Energy & Sustainability Director. You will have day-to-day responsibility for shaping and driving Oracle Cloud’s approach to energy procurement related to onsite generation, as well as supporting broader team efforts around utilities engagement, energy innovation, and sustainability. Oracle aims to reach 100% renewable energy, halve global operational emissions by 2030, and reach net zero by 2050. Sustainable and scalable energy procurement is a growing focus across the business and this role provides critical expertise and execution across Oracle Cloud data centers. Career Level - IC5
Responsibilities
Responsible for day-to-day management of Oracle Cloud’s data center onsite generation fuel procurement strategy across specific markets – with near term priority in U.S. deregulated gas markets but possible oversight in North and South America, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific. Create and manage requirements around gas sourcing including leveraging expertise of regulated and deregulated markets, modeling and analysis of gas solutions (turbines, engines, fuel cells) including O&M, production and fuel consumption, managing supplier RFPs, contract negotiations across procurement and transportation agreements, calculation of short and long term power load profiles, development and execution of forward purchasing strategies, collection and preparation of high-quality data. Lead for day-to-day optimizing and managing gas supply chain at select sites leveraging onsite solutions. This includes coordination of gas delivery, nominations, and supply on a daily/weekly basis to ensure OCI can meet the energy needs of its customers. Engage with energy/gas consultant(s) to evolve strategy and reporting and leverage real-time market intelligence. Monitor gas supply chain for opportunities and risks and recommend strategies for Oracle to stay ahead of these challenges. Evaluates opportunities on low-carbon and renewable solutions to reduce OCI’s carbon footprint including CCS/CCR options. Cross-functionally develop and manage relationships across Oracle including with capacity planning, data center infrastructure build, site selection, supply chain management, data center engineering, data center operations, and corporate sustainability and procurement teams. Coordinate with energy managers, gas plant operators, pipeline owners, gas marketers, utilities, IPPs and other solution providers to ensure seamless power delivery across a range of technologies – utility grids, behind the meter solutions, gas plants, renewables etc. Partner with finance on developing annual energy budgets based on knowledge of current and future footprint and changing gas prices, capex recovery models, O&M costs, etc. Prepare white papers and presentations for executives on strategy and progress.
Qualifications
Desire to work in the fast-paced environment of AI/GPU computing and hyperscale data center design, construction, and operations. 10-12+ years professional experience; 5-7+ years managing corporate (C&I) gas/fuel procurement or utility/IPP gas origination, within a large matrix environment. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, STEM or business with technical expertise on energy and data center topics. Understanding of onsite power generation technologies and EPC vendors for i.e. gas turbines, reciprocating engines, fuel cells, battery storage. Experience with gas scheduling, gas supply chain management, pipeline connection, transportation and fuel contracts. Familiarity with regulated and deregulated energy markets, power/gas hedging, energy supply agreements and power purchase agreements. Experience developing annual energy budgets and working with finance teams to project the all-in cost of power after factoring in onsite solutions. Advanced Excel expertise building financial models and analyzing rates, riders, fees etc. Articulate, executive presence, comfort with negotiations and supplier engagement. Willingness to support global time zones. Willingness to travel as required including internationally.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
3-5+ years experience with electricity procurement especially in deregulated markets. Deep network of energy and gas suppliers and advisors. Data center, thermal generation plant, or mission critical expertise developing and executing generation and fuel purchasing strategies cross-functionally. Experience with mark to market accounting and managing market exposure. 1-2+ years people management experience. Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and making carbon reduction and renewable energy claims: GRI, Science-based Targets, CDP, Greenhouse Gas Protocol, etc.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $104,100 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
