Overview
Reports to the Vice President of Heart Vascular and Stroke Services for the BHS. Serves as the operational leader for Heart Vascular Services at EGH or MHSB, providing strategic leadership for the development of the service line to create a full and holistic continuum of services that respond to customer needs. Guides the development of the overall leadership structure and strategic plan, creates goals and plans for mission effectiveness, quality and financial management, and ensures the alignment of the service line with Memorial Hospital/EGH and Beacon Health System (BHS). Accountable for the overall performance of the HVS service line.

Responsibilities
Quality and Financial Management for a service line:
Direct quality initiatives, plan implementation and complete evaluations of indicators and results.
Utilize and ensure continuous quality improvement philosophies, techniques and tools in all aspects of the position consistent with the Hospital's collaborative QI plan.
Achieve financial and market share targets in concert with the strategic plan.
Explore creative alternative care settings to achieve highest possible quality and lowest possible cost (best value) with appropriate utilization, case management and emphasis on prevention.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory body requirements and standards for areas of responsibility.
Leadership for service line(s):
Identify and develop an overall leadership structure and team for the service line(s).
Develop and implement a strategic and operational plan for the service line(s). The plan should address: mission, medical staff development issues, social accountability, access, quality improvement, financial performance, market assessment and analysis, human resources and information management.
Assist in developing a structure that integrates physicians into decision making with the service line(s) and involves them in strategic planning and budgeting.

Communicate and relate effectively with all types and levels inside and outside the organization; demonstrate respect for all and build trust.
Evaluate staff performance honestly, fairly and timely, with developmental plans for performance improvement and employee development.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Hospital Administration, Nursing, Radiologic Technology or related field; Master’s Degree in a similar discipline is required.
Demonstrated leadership in past positions consistent with the mission and leadership philosophy of BHS and the role of the Director.
Minimum of five years of experience in significant administrative leadership positions, with at least three years in applicable service line(s) preferred; demonstrated experience working closely with physicians (especially program development and/or partnerships) is required.
Knowledge & Skills
High-level knowledge of Beacon Health System’s mission, systems integration, organizational development, managed care, capitation, cost/expense, reimbursement and trends and their implications for the service line(s).
Ability to analyze and communicate relevant data; use creativity in planning, problem solving, goal setting and decision making.
