Description:
The mission of the Survey Crew Chief is to collect valuable field data and information that can be translated into digital deliverables for use in the design and construction of a project. A Survey Crew Chief will act as the field leader for a survey crew performing required field work tasks and assisting in the drafting of boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys for public and private clients.
Responsibilities:
Provide field work direction and communicate to survey crew member(s) on means/methods to accomplish surveys for public and private clients.
Determine elevations and laying out stakes for mapmaking, construction, land, and other surveys.
Operate instrumentation for the collection or distribution of survey data (total station, data collector, level, GPS, UAS Systems).
Perform record research of public records, such as deeds and easements.
Transmit survey data to the proper files in the computer network and be able to acquire the data for field use.
Record field data readings in field book.
Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying marks.
Measure distance between survey points with steel or cloth tape or surveyor’s chain.
Establish survey stakes at designated points and specified elevation.
Cut and clear brush and trees from line of survey.
Read and understands plans and specifications.
Perform other duties as directed by Survey Coordinator.
Perform job specific quality system tasks as defined in quality manual.
Process a working knowledge of drafting programs (Microstation, InRoads, AutoCAD, ArcGIS).
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of experience or 2 year degree with at least 5 years of experience or High School Diploma/GED with at least 10 years of experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
General understanding of survey tools and instrumentation.
Advanced computer skills.
Advanced Math skills to perform data correction computations.
Communication skills, orally and written.
Ability to communicate effectively.
