Overview The primary responsibility of the water resources project manager is to provide leadership related to water resources services, deliver projects for stormwater clients, and grow the external visibility of HDR’s Stormwater Program. The role involves coordinating staff across sections and offices to deliver projects and proposals with innovation and applicable standards, supporting planning and design-level work, and collaborating with other disciplines to provide integrated solutions.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate water resources projects for municipal and utility stormwater programs.
Prepare planning- and design-level documents, including drainage reports and contract/bid documents.
Collaborate with other design disciplines to develop integrated solutions and business opportunities.
Manage projects and provide production support; contribute to business development efforts.
Identify and execute HDR services needed for regional stormwater programs in Missouri and Kansas, including internal services.
Participate in planning processes and drive business development opportunities.
Assist with recruiting and engage in professional organizations and conferences.
Foster relationships with water resources clients and professionals; lead regional initiatives.
Lead comprehensive stormwater management and master planning; understand state regulations and manuals.
Apply asset management tools and design water resources facilities; address flood risk and floodplain mapping; design storm sewers and green stormwater infrastructure.
Lead watershed planning; apply hydrologic and stormwater/drainage modeling.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree
PMP Certification
Minimum of 10 years of related experience including conceptual, preliminary, and final design of drainage and stormwater projects
Commitment to quality and HDR values; professional engineering registration
Experience managing diverse teams; strong leadership and coordination across staff levels
Experience with hydrology, hydraulic/drainage design, and stormwater facility design software
Ability to lead and collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment
Strong communication, listening, and presentation skills
Organized and mission-driven
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
10 years of related experience
Minimum 5 years project management experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent for the position location
MS Office and MS Project experience (Access is a plus)
Demonstrated leadership, business development, and strategic planning skills
