Overview GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Project Manager with 12+ years of experience in Civil Engineering to join our team in Jacksonville and Orlando, Florida. Ideal candidates have design experience and client relationships in public and private sectors. The role offers remote and/or hybrid work location options and may include a sign-on and/or relocation bonus.

Responsibilities

Project Management Responsibilities:

Approximately 55% of duties are devoted to project management and 10% to technical delivery. Deliver scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability of all projects managed. Plan and manage high-value projects with medium to high risk. Develop project schedules, cost budgets, and analyze financial data. Work with Project Controls to monitor cost and billings, analyze performance data, and develop recovery plans as needed. Understand project goals, drivers, strategies, risks, and opportunities. Collaborate with technical and proposal staff to develop responses to RFPs and RFQs. Develop project pursuit teaming relationships. Contribute to GAI's public profile through leadership in communities and professional organizations.

Business Development Responsibilities:

Up to 25% of duties may be dedicated to Business Development. Serve as primary client contact, win new work by building relationships, monitor future opportunities, and participate in client events. Coordinate and develop proposed scope, schedule, and fee for entire projects and lead interview teams. Lead contract negotiations with clients with support from senior management.

Supervisory/Direction Responsibilities:

Typically no direct staff reporting; assemble and lead large project teams across multiple disciplines, offices, and locations. Train and coach Task Managers and other PMs. Act independently within defined objectives and long-term goals.

General/Technical Qualifications:

Demonstrates leadership, strategic thinking, and ability to assess engineering economics and risks across multiple specialties. Applies ethical decision-making and problem-solving across complex projects.

Minimum Qualifications

12+ years of related experience in civil engineering.

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or related field; master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; reciprocity in multiple states.

Technical/Experience Details

Performs advisory or consulting work across broad project areas with innovative/complex aspects.

Assesses practices and requirements to achieve sustainable performance of complex engineering projects from a systems perspective.

Project/Management Authority

Oversees multiple large or multidisciplinary project teams; develops projects to accomplish practice objectives.

Evaluates project management plans for complex engineering projects; develops risk mitigation plans; evaluates leadership effectiveness.

May manage projects up to $250,000 in yearly value without the President’s approval.
