The Offender Success Program facilitates reentry for returning citizens in alignment with Michigan Department of Corrections policies and state funding requirements. Kinexus Group seeks to foster high standards of excellence and positive Offender Success outcomes in reentry efforts. This position involves building and coordinating relationships with a broad array of community stakeholders across the counties of Berrien, Cass, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Saint Joseph, Branch and Calhoun to support reemployment services for individuals returning to the region from multiple correctional institutions. The Director of Offender Services oversees multiple reentry funding streams and collaborates with Kinexus Group to source and apply for grant funding to support department growth and health. Responsibilities
Strategic oversight for the Offender Services Department and staff, including project development, geographic expansion, funder expectations, staff training, performance goals, and corrective action where needed. Manage performance and compliance for agreements with the Michigan Department of Corrections, Department of Justice, and Department of Labor. Identify grant funding opportunities to serve additional justice-involved individuals and collaborate with Kinexus Group to prepare and submit proposals across federal, state, local, and private foundations. Identify community assets and gaps in reentry services to improve outcomes for all reentry populations. Oversee state stakeholder relations and governance structures related to grants, including advisory groups and reentry committees. Maintain department budgets and resource allocation; work with Kinexus Group Finance for budgeting and reporting. Enter and maintain performance and finance reports requiring grant-specific system knowledge; engage with Kinexus Group’s finance, policy, and compliance teams. Participate in statewide learning groups on best practices, achievements, technical assistance, and needs. Plan, organize, control, integrate, monitor, and evaluate services delivered by contractors and vendors involved in reentry services. Establish and oversee the implementation process for all department reentry programs, including monthly reports to ensure contract compliance and goal attainment. Engage with Community Correction Advisory Boards across the region to oversee local corrections and reentry within service areas. Contract creation, maintenance, and negotiation with subcontractors for grants held within the Offender Services department. Foster partnerships with government, nonprofit, and private organizations to leverage contributions for successful reentry. Recommend improvements to policies, systems, resources, and services to support returning citizens. Manage procurement in collaboration with Kinexus Procurement and Contacts. Assist with subcontractor recruitment for multiple projects. Model and uphold Kinexus values: Bold, Inspirational, Inclusive, Entrepreneurial. Ensure integration within the larger Kinexus Group team to reduce duplication, streamline services, and maximize resources for the right service at the right time. Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Non-Profit Administration or related field Excellent written and verbal communication skills Previous experience in grant administration Preferred Experience
Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Non-Profit Administration or related field Knowledge of reentry or corrections processes Experience fostering community partnerships for resource leveraging Contract and budget management Grant sourcing and writing Work Environment
