This position will oversee the management of consultant design projects to successfully deliver complex infrastructure projects as part of the Department's Work Program. Responsibilities include overseeing consultant teams, managing contract budgets and project scope, and engaging with the public on transportation decisions throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires ensuring high-quality deliverables are produced on schedule and within budget, engaging with stakeholders, and fostering teamwork during the design process.

Annual Salary Range:
$65,984.53 - $85,391.74
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Manage design projects with general supervision, assigned to consultant firms, including rural highway capacity, interstate and urban arterial resurfacing, bridge rehabilitation and replacement, mobility projects, etc.
Coordinate work phases among consultants and disciplines such as Right of Way, Testing Labs, Traffic Operations, Planning, and Drainage to maintain schedules and deadlines.
Review work packages from consultants, including plans, reports, and technical submittals.
Serve as contract manager for design projects, develop scope of services, coordinate contract activities, review invoices, and negotiate agreements.
Stay updated on current design processes, policies, and procedures; advise consultants on technical aspects.
Monitor project costs and collaborate with Program Management to ensure adherence to the Work Program.
Attend meetings, conduct field reviews, communicate with stakeholders, and report project status.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
FDOT Project Management policies and procedures.
Principles, laws, and regulations related to transportation project development and design.
Engineering design, construction, and operations.
Problem-solving and research techniques.
Skills in:
Using engineering tools and equipment.
Monitoring schedules and coordinating design phases.
Working effectively with the public, consultants, and officials.
Reviewing and negotiating contracts and claims.
Managing priorities and making timely decisions.
Communicating effectively in writing and orally.
Developing scope of services and staff estimates.
Reviewing technical data and reports.
Ability to:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Other Job-Related Requirements:
Respond to emergencies as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent plus four years of employment experience, or three years of higher education with 72 semester hours or 108 quarter hours.
