Assumes responsibility of all assigned engineering project work and delegates or coordinates sub-tasks to other functions. Supports or leads multiple projects concurrently. Read and determine applicability of national/international codes and standards for the product being tested and/or evaluated. Coordinate testing and evaluation on a variety of commercial food service equipment products to determine compliance with applicable US, Canadian and other international product safety standards, write reports, and communicate with agencies and engineering. Testing may occur at the TurboChef/CookTek lab or at certification bodies (UL, NSF, Intertek, etc.). Maintain test and certification reports on the product line. Set up and operate standard test equipment including: power meter/power analyzer, data logger, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, dielectric strength tester, ground continuity tester, digital multi-meter, surge generator, over-voltage tester, environmental condition chamber, and probes. Coordinate testing with Lab engineers. Core tests include normal operation, power input/rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, endurance, transients, variable ambient, humidity, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, and abnormal operations. Conduct and coordinate various product testing including door cycle testing, agency testing, interlock switch testing, and door latch spring cycle testing. Support agency audits from various certification agencies. Support new product development initiatives including prototype and pilot builds. Familiar with high voltage circuits (460VAC/230VAC) as well as control voltage circuits (24VDC and 120VAC). General knowledge of industrial components such as PLCs, motor starters, VFDs, HMI’s, and other electrical devices. Demonstrate technical competency in one or more areas (e.g., automation, electronics, materials, equipment design, HMI systems, PCB component design). Establish new product bills of materials and manage change processes on current production machines. Create assembly and sub-assembly electrical drawings and release to production. Participate in building and testing engineering prototypes and circuit boards. Maintain state-of-the-art awareness of relevant product technologies, analysis methods, design tools and methodologies. Support warranty improvement, production, and marketing requests. Support field test unit evaluations and evaluate returned parts and units. Qualifications
Detail oriented with time management skills. Highly proficient in MS Office and CAD (SolidWorks preferred). Proficiency in electrical theory and common industry practices. Ability to read and use measuring devices and electrical assembly tools. Ability to layout PCB components per design using electronic design automation (EDA) software. Capable of designing and building functional test fixtures, wiring harnesses and wiring schematics. Ability to write embedded software is a plus (C and/or C++). Capable of using accepted formulas and manuals to determine load capacities, strengths, etc. Minimum experience and educational requirements
Bachelor 0s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. 5-8 years of relevant work experience. An advanced degree (MS) could substitute 1-2 years of required experience.
