Overview
Amazon is hiring for the Operations Engineer, AMZL Start Up Execution. You will lead and manage the lifecycle of cross-functional projects, developing and delivering next-generation sortation and distribution solutions. You are a customer-obsessed leader involved in planning and implementation of facility network infrastructure including new builds, retrofits, expansions and program initiatives. You will partner with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure timely handovers.
Key competencies include upholding high standards for schedule, budget, safety and quality; analyzing system performance; inventing and simplifying solutions to improve processes; and providing technical expertise to internal customers and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Work independently with internal and external teams to manage the lifecycle of challenging projects, owning delivery of objectives that may span organizations or geographies.
Participate in engineering reviews and influence proposed solutions for individual systems, overall architecture, and facility processes.
Partner with internal teams, stakeholders and external vendors to set priorities, milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines; assess dependencies and drive solutions to mitigate issues.
Lead and coordinate all execution efforts delivering system and automated equipment designs to established standards; perform installation, throughput and safety qualifications; optimize processes and resolve technical deficiencies.
Lead effective meetings with clear objectives; document decisions and next steps; ensure alignment with internal partner teams and vendors.
Communicate project status, risk analyses and mitigation plans; provide detailed answers and concise leadership summaries.
Articulate system and equipment designs (layouts, specifications, capabilities) to internal customers and partner teams.
Manage change orders, purchase orders, and invoice validation/approvals efficiently.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple projects.
Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to improve engineering and cross-team efficiencies; generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions under tight timelines.
Travel up to 80% domestically (variable) including potential blocks of up to three weeks, including weekends.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field.
4+ years of experience as a project/engineer, process/engineer, project manager, manufacturing engineer, or related role.
Experience leading projects or programs with increasing scope and impact.
Experience managing cross-functional project lifecycles and implementing automated equipment and/or integrated systems.
Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations or related STEM field.
Operations/Distribution Center experience with material handling, automation, or related projects.
Experience with Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing.
Experience with Microsoft Project or Smartsheet.
Experience with design/implementation of automation solutions (conveyors, sorters, high-speed lines, robotic cells).
Proven technical leadership for industrial engineering projects.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across geographic markets. The base pay ranges from $68,900/year to $126,400/year, depending on location and experience.
