Overview

Ultra Maritime is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer with 5–6 years of experience in quality engineering and inspection roles. This Quality hybrid position combines the responsibilities of a Quality Engineer, Receiving Inspector, and Manufacturing Line Inspector to ensure compliance across the supply chain, incoming material inspection, and production floor activities. The role also involves supporting audits, compliance activities, and contractual obligations with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). The ideal candidate will perform hands-on quality work, support Root Cause Analysis (RCA), gain exposure to Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and ensure adherence to defense and customer requirements. Responsibilities

Perform incoming inspections of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components against drawings, specifications, and defense standards. Conduct in-process and final inspections of assemblies, subassemblies, and finished products on the manufacturing floor. Develop, review, and maintain inspection documentation, test plans, and quality records in compliance with ISO 9001 and contractual requirements. Collaborate with suppliers, engineering, and production teams to resolve nonconformances and drive timely dispositions through the Material Review Board (MRB). Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action development, with guidance from senior quality engineers as needed. Participate in PFMEA activities and other risk-based quality tools to identify potential process risks and mitigation strategies (training available). Ensure inspection tools and gauges are calibrated and properly used to verify product conformance. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data packages (TDPs) to establish inspection criteria. Interface with DCMA representatives during source inspections, audits, and product acceptance reviews to ensure compliance with defense contracts. Prepare and present objective quality evidence (OQE) and inspection records for DCMA acceptance. Maintain accurate documentation in ERP/QMS systems, including inspection results and nonconformance reporting. Promote and enforce quality culture on the manufacturing floor, acting as a liaison between production and quality engineering. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline or equivalent work experience. 2–5 years of professional experience in a quality engineering or inspection role. Experience in a defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated industry preferred. Prior experience supporting DCMA source inspections or government quality oversight strongly preferred. Exposure to RCA, PFMEA, and other risk-based quality management practices preferred; training provided. ASQ certifications (CQI, CQE, CQA) or equivalent are a plus. U.S. Citizenship required due to defense contract regulations; ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance required. Nationality and Clearance

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers. Benefits and Diversity
