Clay Lacy Aviation Position Summary As a Lead Captain, you will act as a flight crewmember and serve as the primary liaison between the account and Clay Lacy Aviation. Your responsibilities include ensuring crew compliance with regulations, coordinating training events, reviewing expense reports, managing crew schedules, and fostering strong relationships within the flight department. Position: Lead Captain Aircraft: Gulfstream G550/G650 Operation: FAA Part 91; approx. 350 hours annually Compensation/Benefits: $380,000 - $400,000; fully paid medical/healthcare premium. Requirement: Type-rated, reside within 2‑hour commute to KVNY or willing to relocate. Duties And Responsibilities
Act as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC) as designated. Ensure compliance with flight and maintenance schedules, SOPs, and regulatory requirements. Monitor crew duty times per Part 135 or Part 91 standards. Complete pre‑flight/post‑flight duties and inspections per AFM. Coordinate with DOM & ACM for aircraft cleaning schedules. Manage aircraft inventory and cabin attendant assignments. Monitor crew performance and report to Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP). Approve crew expense reports; review monthly billing summaries. Schedule crew days off and vacation requests; coordinate owner approval as needed. Maintain liaison with ACP and Director of Training. Conduct monthly reviews of currency and upcoming training requirements. Perform annual aircraft blackbook audits with Flight Ops and ACP. Ensure compliance with fleet SOPs and documents. Be familiar with installed equipment and maintain regulatory authorizations. Maintenance Related Responsibilities
Stay aware of scheduled/unscheduled maintenance events. Assist in resolving and communicating mechanical AOG events. Review monthly work order invoices. Coordinate with Maintenance Controller (or DOM if assigned) on maintenance items and squawks. Additional Responsibilities
Communicate trip-related requests or changes from owners to Charter Department and Chief Pilot’s office. Gather operational data for special projects or reporting. Facilitate positive relationships within the Flight Department. Cultivate relationships with external stakeholders and CLA. Promote CLA culture among Flight Department members. Provide constructive feedback to improve processes via ACM or Safety Management System. Manage overall aircraft owner experience with ACM cooperation. Update Scheduling Specialist on schedule changes affecting crews or contract pilots. Coordinate regular flight department meetings with ACM, DOM, Scheduling Specialist, and billing to discuss activities, maintenance events, budget, problems, and improvement projects. Help select flight department personnel in partnership with ACP/Chief Pilots. Communicate with ACM for operational, personnel, and administrative approvals. Recommend training for flight department members to ACM & ACP. Competencies And Skills
