ID.me is seeking a

Senior Engineering Manager

to lead and grow our Data Platform Team. This team is the service owner for ID.me’s

Identity Trust Graph Database

as well as foundational backend API services. In addition, the team will design and deliver the

modern data platforms, services, tools, and automation

that empower engineering teams to discover, use, and responsibly steward data across the company. You will manage and mentor a team of engineers with expertise in graph and relational databases, event-driven architectures, and large-scale data pipelines. You will work closely with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders to define priorities, deliver high-value outcomes, and meet strict SLAs for reliability, compliance, and data freshness. This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of backend systems, data infrastructure, and platform engineering. Responsibilities

Define and drive the

data platform strategy , including graph database services, APIs, pipelines, and cloud-native infrastructure. Own service reliability and performance for the

Identity Trust Graph Database

and supporting APIs. Deliver scalable event-driven architectures and data pipelines that enable real-time and batch data processing. Establish and enforce standards for data governance, quality, lineage, security, and developer experience. Partner with product managers to translate business and compliance needs into scalable platform solutions. Evaluate and implement modern data engineering platforms, frameworks, and tools that accelerate adoption and self-service. Guide data model design across graph-based and relational architectures to support both operational and analytical use cases. Monitor, optimize, and scale platform services to meet high availability and performance requirements. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as FedRAMP, NIST, and GDPR. Mentor and grow engineers, fostering a culture of

technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement . Advocate for graph database technologies and event-driven approaches across the company, including with executives and product leaders. Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field of study. 8+ years of engineering experience, with 3-4 years leading engineering teams. 5+ years of experience in

data engineering, site reliability, or platform engineering . Preferred Qualifications

Deep expertise in

graph databases

(e.g., Neo4j, Amazon Neptune), including schema design, optimization, and implementation. Track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams and delivering successful outcomes. Experience building event-driven architectures and

streaming data pipelines

(Kafka, Kinesis, or equivalent). Strong SQL skills and experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native tools (Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm). Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and educate stakeholders at all levels. Experience evangelizing and driving adoption of new technologies across an engineering organization. Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary listed does not include a company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity and benefits which will be determined based on experience, skills, education, relevant training, geographic location and role.
