Van Cleef Engineering has an immediate opening for an entry‑level Bridge Engineer/Inspector in our

Freehold, NJ office

(or potentially other Van Cleef offices). This is a full‑time, immediate opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Performing beginning level bridge safety inspection work as a member of a bridge safety inspection team and assist higher level inspectors

May be required to perform manual labor such as climbing onto scaffolding and carrying/using ladders to access bridge structures

Assisting in the design and detailing/drafting of bridge and highway elements

Preparation of bridge inspection reports

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred;

0-5 years of experience, preferably with bridge inspections, or similar field/construction related work;

Valid Driver’s License;

Strong communication, data management and technical writing skills, both oral and written;

Proficiency in the use of computers for developing engineering spreadsheets and report writing;

Attendance of Safety Inspection of In‑Service Bridges (NHI Course 130053) is a plus;

Ability to work nights on occasion;

Ability to work from raised work platforms over roadways and waterways, and physical ability to carry ladders and other inspection equipment;

Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus.

Compensation $65,000 - $85,000 annually commensurate with experience.
