Overview

The Treating Plant Operator is responsible for treating all wood products, mixing chemical treatments, operating treating equipment, and treating inventory as scheduled by the Scheduler while maintaining environmental and safety compliance at all times. Responsibilities

Work with a safety mindset at all times. Operate a fork truck. Monitor and mix chemical treating solutions within variance tolerances. Use appropriate formulas to calculate treatment for every charge. Operate treating equipment: software, pumps, valves, etc. Monitor treating processes and resolve issues in a timely manner. Properly fill out paperwork. Work with Quality Coordinator to maintain product standards (retention and penetration). Perform appropriate cylinder washout procedures when changing treatments, while following all safety protocols. Maintain treating records. Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report unsafe or non-compliant issues. Attend all training sessions and safety meetings as required. Training and testing to acquire a pesticide license may be required in some locations. Perform computer duties as necessary. Other duties as directed. Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. Ability to use and read tape measures. Ability to become knowledgeable on all chemical treatments. Ability to recognize different grades and species of lumber and plywood. Ability To Become Knowledgeable About The Treatment Process.

Be comfortable working with Windows-based programs, using a word processor, and email. Must have a good knowledge of spreadsheeting. Work Environment

Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Can be hot, cold, humid, and/or rainy. Will get dirty. Will require entry into small, enclosed spaces. May require climbing heights of up to 50 feet. Physical Requirements

Immediately upon hire or assignment to the Treating Plant Operator position, training will take place in Safety and Environmental programs. The Treating Plant Operator is required to obtain a state pesticide applicators license. Annual training over all programs. Company Description
