Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $190,000.00/yr

Akkodis is seeking a remote full-time, permanent hire Sr. Electrical Engineer / Facilities Power Distribution with a P.E. license ( or can attain one in 12 months or less as a condition of employment ) for the state of California to oversee the exciting design and implementation of low voltage power distribution, generation, and protection supporting the signal processing data centers and relevant antennas for space exploration. Candidates must possess an emphasis in power engineering and 7+ years of low voltage facility power distribution design with a concentration on low voltage, project management, and some field experience. Experience with commissioning power equipment such as ATS, UPS, Switchgear, PLC’s, and Generators.

Ideally a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) for the state of California is preferred though options remain below.

\*Candidates that do not have an active CA PE license – if the license has expired, we will consider as long applicant's is willing to retest for the renewal in the near future.

\*If never had a CA PE license, we are willing to consider applicants up to 1 year to attain this as a condition of employment.

Pay Range: $150,000 to $190,000/year (pay commensurate based on experience, education, geographic locations, and other factors). Quarterly bonuses are awarded in addition to the aforementioned salary range.

Electrical Engineer / Licensed Professional Engineer job responsibilities include:

Overseeing every aspect of design, construction, acceptance testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of power distribution, protection, and generation.

Project design and implementation of repairing or replacing existing systems. May be expected to take the technical lead in the implementation of smaller projects involving research and coordinating with subcontractors to achieve project milestones.

Understanding of power distribution, protection, and generation to ensure safety of equipment, operations, and personnel. This includes creating arc flash evaluations and short-circuit studies to identify power system is up to date with NFPA 70E. Coordination and Time Current Curves evaluations are also expected within the role.

Capability to troubleshoot unexpected unknowns during a modification project. Should be able to read, understand, and mark-up wiring diagrams, schematics, and documentation to record how the system was modified or as-built.

Provides technical assistance and guidance to all operations and maintenance personnel for issues on power systems.

Ensure new power system deliveries are compatible with existing building infrastructure and codes while identifying equipment spares and product obsolescence.

Supports the DSN Engineering Change Management Board in the development, evaluation and costing of Engineering Change Requests, the preparation and delivery of Engineering Change Orders or Modification Kits, and the troubleshooting, resolution and closure of Discrepancy Reports.

Working knowledge of NFPA, IEEE, NETA, and other relevant codes/standards.

Identify the lead times for major electrical equipment to ensure project success. Identify and eliminate the single point of failure distribution points within the subsystem.

Possess solid oral and written communications skills, and a working knowledge of MS Office Suite. Presentation skills are a must have!

QUALIFICATIONS:

A California Professional Engineering (PE) License is preferred OR willing to renew license OR can attain a new license within 1 year of employment on the team.

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in power engineering and 7+ years of facility power distribution design with a concentration on low voltage, project management, and some field experience.

Able to multi-task and able to quickly adapt to change, along with being highly analytical.

Experience with commissioning power equipment such as ATS, UPS, Switchgear, PLC’s, and Generators.
