Role Description:
The
Product Engineer 2
must have 7+ years of experience. Your mission is to be the ?go to? person in the development of new product designs, redesign of existing products, and maintenance of existing products that conform to all aspects of product requirements including performance and PK (cost) target.
Use your creative thinking and ambition to drive solutions for our customers with commitment, innovation, and interaction focusing on quality and cost. Ensure product documentation (drawings, BOM) are up to date. Manage product design changes through the Engineering Change Process for the release of engineering Design Notifications.
In this role, you will conduct cross-functional team meetings to solve product problems during the product(s) lifecycle. Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to develop product 3D master assembly files, revise existing 3D master files, and create or revise 2D drawings for new, proposed, and existing products/projects.
Responsibilities:
Make design improvements and modifications to current production products following the Engineering Change Request process.
Review requested changes from Marketing, Production, Purchasing, and Technical Services (TCM/PQM).
Evaluate the necessary design changes, R&D test validation, and PK impact before implementing any changes.
Leverage design changes by coordinating new designs and design updates through the Global Design Center (GECIA).
Train and educate Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) on critical design aspects of part fit, form, and functionality to manage supplier deviations and comments for improved manufacturability.
Ensure design practice complies with ISO requirements.
Maintain documents related to engineering processes and ISO requirements.
Participate in the portable air compressor Noise Improvement Program through design changes to meet sound targets.
Work with other design engineers and R&D Lab to evaluate design arrangements and PK impact.
Become familiar with the C-to-P 2.0 (Concept to Product) processes for New Product Development.
Serve as an internal consultant for engineering processes and work on their integration and maintenance.
Maintain detailed 2D component drawings with GD&T using proper standards.
Perform BOM audits and review products for updates or phase-in/out.
Create and maintain 3D master assembly models using CAD software and PLM tools like Windchill.
Complete projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, CREO).
Skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Proven track record of positive results.
Customer-oriented mindset.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
7+ years of engineering experience, preferably in construction equipment product development.
Experience in manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with 3D modeling and BOM management.
Experience with Portable Energy equipment is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting and working on a computer for prolonged periods.
50% of the time on the shop floor and in R&D Lab.
Ability to lift 30 pounds occasionally.
