13 Weeks (Possible Extensions) Responsibilities
The CT technologist demonstrates professionalism and service excellence when performing tasks related to CT scanning. Obtains necessary medical, surgical, and radiological supplies for procedures according to established protocols. Maintains sterility of the field and instruments. Prepares requisitions correctly. Communicates with the patient and family before, during, and after the procedure to alleviate anxiety while maintaining privacy and dignity. Adheres to HIPAA regulations and respects patient privacy. Verifies patient identification according to policy. Observes patient condition before and after contrast injections and reports changes to the nursing staff and Radiologist. Ensures availability of medical records, previous reports, labs, and patient history. Can begin emergency response in case of complication. Maintains adequate linen supplies in each scanning room. Maintains adequate contrast media and biopsy/drainage supplies in each scanning room. Adheres to room assignments (CT 1, 2, and 3) and assists in maintaining the CT storeroom and outside inventory. Participates in daily inventory and stocking of supplies; notifies Lead of expired or soon-to-expire equipment or medications; cleans and inventories supplies. Participates in routine cleaning of the CT gantry, table, and peripheral equipment after each use. Triages procedures and coordinates emergency and unscheduled requests; assigns staff to ensure efficient workflow and patient safety; maintains workflow to coordinate emergent procedures within the schedule. Communicates with departments and floors regarding patient status; ensures immediate patient transport post-procedure; assists in performing routine procedures. Assesses patient ability to tolerate contrast; screens for allergies/medication incompatibilities. Cleans CT Unit and room after use; maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the working area. Notifies Coordinator or Lead of equipment malfunctions; maintains QA/QC requirements for daily, monthly, and ACR specifications. Recognizes unusual conditions in equipment operation and alerts appropriate personnel; adheres to venipuncture and power injector protocols. For cases requiring immediate results (Code Grey, Trauma), images are acquired, processed, sent, and verified in PACS/RIS per protocol; radiologist notified of Code Grey images and processed data followed up. All staff notify radiologist of any unusual findings to provide optimum patient care. Qualifications
Required Certifications & Licensure:
ARRT RT(R), ARRT RT(CT), NJDEP – New Jersey State X-Ray License, BLS Certification Required Education:
HS Diploma/GED; completion of a Radiographer Technical training program from a School/College Radiography program Seniority level
