Role location
Atlanta, GA.
Responsibilities
Provide the expertise of a seasoned engineer for conventional aspects of the functional area and apply advanced concepts to unconventional problems. May function as an individual researcher or technical specialist. Uphold engineering ethics and standards of conduct. Perform project design and sketch design concepts to be developed by junior engineers, CAD designers, or technicians. Plan and review the production of engineering drawings, specifications, investigations, or planning work. Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives to select cost-effective solutions. Analyze technical problems, assess feasibility of techniques, and devise new approaches and alternatives. Analyze project scope and prepare or oversee cost estimates, manpower estimates, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate work with the project manager and guide junior professionals and technical personnel on design and drafting of plans. Ensure quality control and maintain quality standards in all produced work, reviewing computations and drawings. May occasionally manage projects. Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.
Qualifications
B.S./M.S. in Engineering (Civil). 6–10 years of highway experience (design and construction). P.E. license is required. Good interpersonal and communication skills; capable of developing technical writing; may be eligible for project management training. Experience using MicroStation and Open Roads Designer. Experience using AutoTURN.
