Overview

Mechanical Maintenance Technician Supervisor I (NCS) – Baltimore Convention Center. The Facilities and Engineering Mechanical Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and control of day-to-day operations within the Center’s Facilities and Engineering Department. The incumbent supervises and works with personnel who perform mechanical services to the facility. This is a non-exempt, essential position with an evening, weekend, and holiday shift as events dictate. The role requires supervising and developing a team that maintains and repairs various mechanical systems and may involve overseeing contracted services. Responsibilities

Develops, implements, plans, organizes, monitors, evaluates, and supervises activities related to construction, maintenance, and repair of the facility and features such as HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Oversees and supervises subordinate staff assigned to maintain mechanical systems. Maintains records of work completed and ensures preventative maintenance procedures are performed for equipment and systems. Assigns, trains, directs, schedules, and monitors staff duties to ensure work is completed properly and meets department standards. Evaluates employee performance and provides timely feedback. Maintains, reviews, and records reports including daily activity, work orders, work requests, and monthly statistics. Assists in the development and administration of programs and procedures to maintain effective safety procedures; develops and ensures staff are trained on safety procedures for equipment. Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities; monitors activities for compliance with policies and practices; supervises and participates in investigation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of facility equipment. Trains, mentors, develops, and evaluates the performance of employees; adheres to safety policies and provides a safe work environment for employees and customers. Provides excellent customer service to external customers (clients, exhibitors, attendees). Assists in development and administration of assigned program budget; forecasts funds for staffing, equipment, and supplies. Operates and programs computerized HVAC, CMMS, and work ticket systems; operates a variety of tools and equipment, including aerial lifts and forklifts. Assists with supervision of other Facilities & Engineering Department tasks as needed. Performs other related work as required. Minimum Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or GED Certificate. AND Experience:

Seven years of related experience with three years at the supervisory level. OR Equivalency Notes:

Have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of facility maintenance. Supervision and leadership; work planning, evaluation, training. Skilled trades knowledge in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. Ability to read building drawings, plans, blueprints, electrical schematics, and piping diagrams. Troubleshooting and repair of facility and equipment maintenance. Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance with regulations; use of Lockout/Tagout, PPE, and waste disposal techniques. Inspection methods to ensure safety, quality, and standards compliance. Understanding of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Building inspections and daily reporting; clear and organized communication; teamwork and respect for colleagues. Administrative procedures, budgeting, and financial management; contract and procurement administration; ability to work independently. Oversee contracted service providers; organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up. Proficiency with business technology, including Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to use electronic work ticket systems. Additional Information
