Overview
The Amatriot Group is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Engineering Technician with strong expertise in Solid Edge CAD and mechanical systems support to assist the U.S. Navy’s Airborne Electro-Optical Systems Integration Section. The technician will design and modify support equipment, test fixtures, and mechanical components, primarily for electro-optical systems integration. Location: 100% onsite at NSWC Crane, Indiana (telework eligible within 25 miles of base, as authorized). Clearance: Active Secret Clearance (Interim or Final required at start). Employment Type: Full-Time, W2 (Defense Subcontractor via The Amatriot Group). Target Salary: $60,000-$70,000. Client: U.S. Navy – Airborne Electro-Optical Systems. Responsibilities
Design 2D and 3D mechanical models using Solid Edge 2023 or newer, primarily for lab test setups, support equipment, and custom mechanical hardware. Develop and deliver CAD and CAM media in line with Navy integration requirements. Update and revise existing drawings to reflect design changes and adhere to configuration management and manufacturing practices. Incorporate government-provided drawing templates and design standards into CAD deliverables. Review and route engineering change notices using government-supplied templates. Assist in organizing and delivering mechanical source data in accordance with program documentation guidelines. Provide technical support to prototype development, turret hardware installations, and ground-support tooling. Communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, and logistics personnel to ensure mechanical solutions are accurate, timely, and mission-aligned. Required Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting & Design, or a related technical field. Minimum 5 years of experience in a mechanical or CAD technician role, preferably in defense, aerospace, or manufacturing environments. Proficiency in Solid Edge (2023 or newer), including part modeling, assemblies, and drafting. Active Secret Clearance (Interim or Final) required at time of start. Experience with technical drawing updates, engineering change documentation, and BOM revisions. Familiarity with mechanical systems used in lab setups, test environments, or support equipment for EO systems. U.S. Citizenship required for access to government systems and secure facilities. Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience supporting airborne sensor platforms or electro-optical integration. Working knowledge of configuration management, technical data packages, and DoD drafting standards. Experience developing or modifying mechanical installation kits, lifting devices, or test fixtures. Familiarity with CAD-CAM workflows, including file conversions and source control. Work Conditions
Primary duty location is NSWC Crane, IN. Telework may be authorized for contractor facilities within 25 miles of the base, pending government approval. Access to NMCI laptops and drawing templates will be provided.
