Our Virginia Beach Construction Management Team is seeking a Construction Inspector. The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures during and after construction to ensure structural quality, safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.
This position is not eligible for employer sponsorship, except for TN visa classification. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations. Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials. Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes. Gather and maintain record documents. Make field notes and perform computations. Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Skills Strong computer proficiency. Active driver's license. Must pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening. Required Experience High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted with experience). 1-4 years of roadway construction inspection experience. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management preferred. Client-requested certifications preferred. Working Conditions Work is performed in the field. Ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Work may be outside in heat, cold, wet, humid, dry, or arid conditions.
