The Role The Maintenance Planner is accountable for reducing equipment downtime, loss, and site costs by driving the organization to a planned proactive state. This is achieved through validated and standardized procedures and planning tools. The Planner applies skilled competencies beyond the technician level to plan and coordinate workforce, parts, materials, and other resources for their assigned areas. The Planner serves as the liaison between Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations and maintains job plans, records, and files to enable optimal execution and analysis of all planned work while managing maintenance backlogs. The role contributes to Tate’s success by efficiently scheduling, coordinating, and tracking the workflow of the maintenance team, auditing PMs for effectiveness and compliance, and ensuring critical PMs and work activities are completed on time and in accordance with OEM/Engineering standards.
What You’ll Do
Detailed job planning and preparation — conduct analysis for job requirements, JHA/JSA, resource identification and management, time required and time available.
Technical review of work to determine correct repair methods and safety requirements.
Validate that work meets standards and is completed to a high degree of satisfaction.
Maintain the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) database.
Support Asset Management identification and review.
Manage and track PMs, Work Orders, and Emergency Repairs.
Generate CMMS reports on equipment and mechanic performance.
Create sub-assemblies and PM routes as needed for all equipment.
Create, analyze, or update PMs on all equipment and audit annually for effectiveness based on downtime data and equipment performance.
Manage and assist in planning annual overhauls and rebuilds.
Support parts identification and parts kitting for planned work.
Create and maintain historical files.
CMMS & Preventive Maintenance subject matter expert and trainer. Serve as the system administrator and drive 100% CMMS compliance.
Weekly meetings with maintenance leadership and operations.
Ensure a balanced workload by planning jobs and allocating resources.
What You’ll Bring
5 years of experience in preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance planning.
Experience as an Engineering/Maintenance Supervisor or equivalent.
Strong technical knowledge and project management skills.
Formal and hands-on training in CMMS systems and project tracking.
Good oral/written communication skills including presentations.
Strong administrative and mathematical skills.
Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.
High aptitude for detailed paperwork and record keeping.
Competencies
Ability to manage multiple jobs in parallel and keep them in controlled motion.
Act as a change agent to move the Maintenance organization to a proactive status.
Ability to bring order from chaos and facilitate teamwork.
Active participation in meetings, note-taking, distribution, organizing and facilitating, and oral presentations.
Deliver planning requirements to scope, time, and budget with minimal supervision.
