Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Regional Chief Engineer (CE) to join our Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Team. This group maintains the critical physical infrastructure that supports AWS, ensuring the safe and secure operation of the data center's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) infrastructure to provide 99.999% availability. In this role, High Voltage Sub-Station (HVSS) experience is valued given the PHX region layout. The Regional CE is responsible for ensuring that all MEP equipment within the region operates at peak efficiency, including planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response. The Regional CE serves as an expert technical resource interacting with on-site Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT), CEs, Facility Managers (FM), and third-party vendors. The Regional CE also manages medium-to-large projects and programs from conception to completion, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive innovation, resiliency, and cost reduction. Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center, including HVSS Operate independently with limited direct management Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the region Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures Create and deploy new standard practices for EOTs, CEs, and vendor support teams Provide training and guidance to EOTs, CEs, and FMs Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience Work cross-functionally to effect cluster-wide performance improvement by designing and implementing processes, metrics, and programs Collaborate across teams to define strategy, goals, and timelines Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems Preferred Qualifications
Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure About The Team
