Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer in Virginia Beach, VA (Job ID: 3976) to provide research and development and engineering support for Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division Dam Neck (NSWCDD) initiatives. Job Description
Perform independent analysis on obsolete and emerging hardware to assess impact on current systems. Design and develop mechanical kit Technical Data Packages (TDPs) to include mounting support for Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and/or Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) components. Provide acquisition recommendations based on independent analyses. Support planning, design, implementation, and integration of systems hardware components. Perform drawing development tasks and conduct technical reviews. Perform gap analysis for technical drawings, systems, and documents. Perform configuration management (CM) duties for various TDPs. Assist with Environment Qualification Tests (EQT) and functional testing; create procedures, plans, and schedules. Provide design modifications based on COTS components for obsolete parts and modernization initiatives. Responsibilities
Carry out independent analyses and contribute to system-level hardware decisions. Develop and maintain TDPs and related documentation. Support testing, qualification, and integration activities. Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (including Project and Excel). Experience working with SSDS or shipboard systems. Desired Qualifications
5+ years of experience with SSDS, Navy, and/or shipboard systems (preferred). Engineering BS degree from an ABET-accredited school (preferred). Security Requirements
Must have an Active DoD Secret Security clearance and base access requirements. Travel Requirements
Minimal travel is required. If the position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate identification credentials (e.g., REAL ID) by start of position. Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in an office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Be able to lift and move materials up to one-person lift limits. Must be able to perform site surveys and carry a laptop computer. Benefits
