Compensation for this role is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, and other business and organizational considerations. Department: Plant Operations & Maintenance FTE: 1.00, Full Time, Shift: Rotating Position Summary: Repair, maintain and install mechanical refrigeration and air conditioning systems and related equipment in accordance with federal and state codes and accrediting, to ensure safe and uninterrupted service to patients and staff. Detailed Responsibilities:
OPERATION - Inspect and operate refrigeration, cooling, and air conditioning systems and equipment to ensure all are functioning properly; report any malfunctions or discrepancy to Engineering Supervisor OPERATION - Install, calibrate and maintain manual and automatic pneumatic controls on all equipment; may obtain assistance from the Electronic Technician on other control systems OPERATION - Maintain equipment and condition to conform with code requirements and ensure best operating conditions; include reclamation procedures in reference to CFC OPERATION - Install refrigeration machinery, air conditioning equipment, water coolers, and small refrigerators; install packaged units and split units as required MAINTENANCE - Inspect, maintain and repair the heating / cooling distribution system including the removal and replacement of isolation or control valves MAINTENANCE - Repair existing air conditioning, refrigeration or related equipment as needed or scheduled OPERATION - Maintain gas fired furnaces in a clean and safe condition MAINTENANCE - Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled or required due to adverse conditions; answer trouble calls within the facility ENVIRONMENT - Maintain clean, orderly and safe work areas EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Ensure proper care in the use of equipment and supplies EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Assure that all hospital owned tools are kept in a safe operating condition and report any unsafe tools needing repair to immediate supervisor RECORDS - Document and tag all equipment as it is received by University Hospitals and inspect prior to delivery; maintain records on required and completed repair work REPORT - Report to supervisor any condition rendered unsafe or equipment not repairable and notify department concerned TRAINING - Participate in cross-training programs that will help carry out duties throughout the department MAINTENANCE - Report any repairs or maintenance needed throughout the building or grounds dealing with area of specialization or outside area of specialization ATTENDANCE - Required to keep the supervisor informed of whereabouts at all times RELATED WORK - Perform related duties and responsibilities as required Qualifications
High School or GED Equivalent Essential Experience: No minimum experience required, 3 years directly related experience Credentials:
EPA Universal Recovery Certification Journeyman Gas Fitter License in New Mexico Journeyman Refrigeration License in New Mexico Valid New Mexico Driver's License UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit w/in 60 days Physical Conditions: Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Essential: Working conditions:
Sig Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials req PPE Subject to random alcohol and substance testing May be required or is required to perform on-call duties
