Transportation Hydraulics Engineer 5 CDM Smith is seeking a Transportation Hydraulics Engineer 5 to join its Southeast team renowned for roadway and hydraulic design solutions.

Job Description

Design hydraulic systems for a spectrum of transportation projects ranging from busy urban thoroughfares to rural roads.

Collaborate with marketing and project pursuit activities to expand department reach.

Lead task teams under seasoned Project Managers on roadway hydraulic components within large projects.

Handle complex technical challenges with autonomy.

Mentor junior colleagues and serve as knowledge beacon.

Steer engineering and technical teams to ensure project success.

Work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary coordination environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.

Professional Engineering (PE) license.

7 years of related experience.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required; 5% travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with roadway hydraulic design including ditches, small pipe culverts, storm sewer systems, outfall analysis, and drainage investigations.

Bridge and/or culvert hydraulic design over streams using FHWA guidelines.

Design and permitting of stormwater systems for roadways including rural, urban, and limited access systems.

Proficiency with Microstation CADD, Geopak Drainage Software, HY8, HECRAS, HEC1 or HECHMS, ARCGIS, OpenRoads Designer, and NCDOT design standards.
