Aircraft Safety Engineer

with system safety and flight test experience to join our US Navy Unmanned MQ-25 Stingray program in

Mascoutah, Illinois or Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland . As a member of the Safety engineering organization, you will have the opportunity working directly with our customers & other program teammates including systems engineering, software engineering, mission systems, platform systems, flight engineering, production and flight testing. As an aircraft safety engineer, you will be responsible for working closely with other engineering disciplines to assess aircraft hardware/software/firmware design to identify all potential safety hazards and propose solutions to reduce or eliminate hazards to ensure product safety and customer mission success. We are looking for individuals with a strong background in aircraft systems design, aircraft manufacturing and test operations. Enthusiastic and highly collaborative engineers with a passion for technical details in both hardware and software. Experience in MIL-STD 882, JSSSEH, DO-178/DO-254 standards is highly desirable. Position Responsibilities: Participates in research and analysis to identify potential or reported issues and ground/flight test hazards, risks, and safety concerns Supports identifying safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommends corrective actions using Boeing best practices Supports defining and validating safety, mission success, and airworthiness; provides support incorporating into designs, operations, and procedures Participates in tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system meet defined safety and mission assurance requirements Contributes by documenting safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards Supports creating and maintaining product safety and corrective action plans Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science Experience in aerospace systems including MIL-STD 882 safety hazard analysis, air vehicle subsystems hardware and software design, build & test 5+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance & fleet operations 5+ years of experience in aircraft ground/flight test planning & flight operations Ability to travel 25% Preferred Qualifications (Desired skills/Experience) : Senior: 10+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 5+ years of experience in Systems Safety Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Software Safety Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) or equivalent. Experience in MIL-STD 882, JSSSEH, DO-178/DO-254 5+ Experience in aircraft safety critical design (e.g. flight controls, electrical, navigation/guidance, avionics and communications etc...) 10+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance & fleet operations 10+ years of experience in aircraft test planning & operations Experience in Root Causes/Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies to solve complex technical/safety issues Boeing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
