DoorDash is looking for an Engineering Manager with a strong platform mindset to lead the Payout & Banking Platform team. Our mission is to build products that solve the financial needs of our Dashers, Merchants, and Customers.
About The Team At our core, we own Payouts—ensuring billions of dollars flow reliably and flexibly to Dashers and Merchants every year. Beyond Payouts, we’ve built next‑generation financial products such as instant payments to a DoorDash‑branded bank account and a Dasher‑issued card that pays Merchants directly for goods. In the future, our team aims to extend banking to Merchants and Customers, powering the next wave of DoorDash Fintech innovation.
About The Role As the Engineering Manager for the Payout & Banking Platform, you will lead a talented and passionate engineering team building the systems at the heart of DoorDash’s financial ecosystem. In this role you will:
Reimagine and rebuild our Payout and Banking Platforms to meet the demands of massive scale and reliability.
Deliver highly resilient, scalable systems that enable billions in payments and unlock new Fintech products.
Partner with Product, Data Science, and Strategy & Operations to define and execute a strategic roadmap that balances foundational platform investments with innovative product features.
Inspire and grow your team, fostering technical excellence, customer focus, and a culture of continuous learning.

Lead and grow a team of exceptional backend and client‑side engineers delivering end‑to‑end engineering solutions.
Be the technologist and system thinker who connects the dots between technology and the business and unlocks business opportunities through tech innovation.
Collaborate with Product Managers, business leaders, and key stakeholders to determine the team's roadmap and vision, and manage execution against that roadmap.
Provide architectural guidance and professional development for a team of 8+ engineers.
Encourage innovation, teamwork, implementation of cutting‑edge technologies, and outside‑of‑the‑box thinking.
Oversee the hiring process for your team, in partnership with recruiting, to grow a diverse and inclusive team.
Drive key business metrics such as customer engagement and retention.
We're Excited About You Because You Have …
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
3+ years of experience in people management leading full‑stack teams (backend & web) of 8+ engineers.
8+ years of industry experience.
Experience scaling high‑volume tier 0 platforms.
Strong product sense and thought partnership with cross‑functional peers.
Experience in Payments or Fintech a plus, but not required.
Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization.
Humility – willing to get into the details and open to feedback.
Growth mindset – eager to expand skill set and excited to carve out a career path in a hyper‑growth setting.
Adaptability, resiliency, and the ability to thrive in ambiguity – things can change quickly, and you’ll need to help the team evolve.
Compensation The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the range listed below and is determined based on job‑related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. U.S. range: $193,800 – $285,000 USD.
