The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Physicist in Radiation Oncology. This role is responsible for specification and acquisition of radiation-generating equipment, calibration of treatment machines, and acquisition and maintenance of dosimetry and health-physics equipment. The position reviews OSU radiation treatment charts and instructs personnel in principles and regulations related to radiation therapy physics, dosimetry, and radiation protection.
Position Summary
Under indirect supervision, provides professional medical physics services at the Department of Radiation Oncology (or its outreach/affiliates) of the Medical Center. Evaluates and interprets medical radiation treatment prescriptions. Collaborates with medical providers in the design and modification of effective radiation treatments for patients; oversees and monitors treatment plans developed by dosimetrists, and participates in the development and execution of equipment monitoring, calibration, and safety surveys. Provides technical assistance in the development of treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy; monitors patients; maintains established policies, procedures, objectives, quality measurement, and safety; performs clinical research as required. Required Qualifications
Master of Science degree with math and physics concentration, preferably in Medical Physics. Specialization in clinical radiation/therapeutic physics. Extensive progressively responsible experience in Radiation Oncology, Clinical Physics, and Radiation Therapy. Minimum of two years of clinical experience, either through previous work experience or a clinical Radiation Oncology Residency. ABR eligible at a minimum. If not currently ABR certified, it is expected that ABR certification will be obtained within 3 years of hire. The university is an equal opportunity employer, including veterans and disability.
