Customer Service Representative - Carrier Focused
Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Customer Service Representative to join their team in the scrap and recycling industry. The ideal candidate will act as a liaison between customers and internal teams, ensuring the highest level of service is delivered. This position requires excellent communication skills, a solid understanding of industry practices, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for customer inquiries via phone, email, and text. Provide accurate information regarding scrap pricing, accepted materials, and company policies. Create and manage customer loads, pickups, and delivery schedules. Coordinate with dispatch, yard, and sales teams to ensure timely service and accurate documentation. Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly, escalating when necessary. Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, transactions, comments, and complaints. Assist in maintaining customer accounts, including billing inquiries and payment processing. Stay informed on current market trends and pricing in the scrap industry. Support administrative tasks such as data entry, report generation, and filing as needed.
Experience:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree is required. 2+ years of experience in customer service; experience in the scrap or recycling industry is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with industry-specific software is a plus. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with materials commonly handled in scrap operations (e.g., ferrous, non-ferrous metals) is an asset.
This position offers a competitive base salary.
