Responsibilities
Promote conduct consistent with Nucor's vision and values
Work with shop leads and supervisors establishing daily work assignments to maximize shift operations
Responsible for all department teammates, safety and shop housekeeping while meeting production quality and quantity standards on the shift
Continuous department walkthroughs to maintain highest safety standards
Help leads assign mentors and train teammates in safe and efficient use of equipment
Understand and assign daily workload to the team
Support inventory needs and assist in ordering process
Maintain clean and safe department environment
Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor
Minimum Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
High school diploma, GED or local/state equivalent
Minimum 5 years in production environment or related experience
Minimum 3 years in supervisory role
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel
Selection Criteria
Skilled in communication, supervision and planning
Basic knowledge of business, labor relations and industrial regulations
Highly motivated and self‑starter
Promotes a positive attitude toward Nucor safety culture
Ability to track and trace heat numbers
Understands and controls inventory process and drop bundles
Preferences
Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of all branch software programs (Navision, Dayforce, aSa)
Understanding of branch production flow
Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA Industrial Safety Standards, OSHA 30 certified, Crane Trainer certified
Able to operate all department equipment efficiently
Special Demands
Safety‑sensitive position; must be able to work overtime and any shift
Physical Demands
Some heavy lifting may be necessary
Working conditions can be noisy, dusty, hot, cold
