Overview
HDR is seeking to expand our national Trenchless Services team nationwide. The Trenchless EIT/Specialist will report to the Trenchless Services Engineering Lead, supporting the execution of design and field services for trenchless projects, including engineering, design, and construction applications. The role may involve travel to field sites and coordination with team members across disciplines. Perform desk top route selection and evaluate feasibility for design and construction of trenchless crossings. Carry out site reconnaissance visits and develop a subsurface investigation program for trenchless construction feasibility. Evaluate surface and subsurface conditions to determine feasibility and preferred construction techniques for trenchless methods. Interface with discipline leads and production staff to support trenchless design deliverables and communicate project status to clients. Estimate quantities and installation loading for trenchless pipeline installations; assess appropriate trenchless technologies (e.g., HDD, microtunneling, Direct Pipe) and contribute to method selection. Prepare field engineering and as-built documents; develop permit applications and drawings; ensure compliance with applicable standards and codes. Build knowledge of software models for trenchless design and support multidisciplinary project execution. Perform construction oversight in the field, monitor daily activities, and report findings with high quality data; travel may be extensive depending on project needs. Travel is required and may be extensive; position is subject to pre-employment drug testing. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate; CEIT designation or pursuit of PE credentials (candidates hired without EIT may have the title of Specialist). Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and within a team. Experience in consulting/engineering with trenchless methods (HDD, microtunneling, Direct Pipe) preferred. Experience with trenchless design and construction; AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus. Ability to handle multiple assignments, manage time, and work in remote or distributed environments. Commitment to HDR’s employee-owned culture and inclusive work environment. Engineering in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain; C EIT designation and desire to pursue PE credentials. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, or related discipline (minimum two years of professional experience in related fields). Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; strong writing and computer skills; experience with Microsoft Word/Excel; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
